      1. Should I try to fix it myself?

We at Rogers Electrical strongly recommend that you hire a licensed professional in connection with your electrical projects for several reasons, first and foremost is you and your family’s safety. Your personal safety is paramount, and if the system is still energized you could be seriously injured. Our company employs licensed, insured, trained, certified professional electricians with the needed equipment to perform your installation or repair to your complete satisfaction.

      2. How do I test or reset my circuit breaker?

Several conditions can cause your breaker to trip depending on which type of breaker you are working with. A standard breaker will trip and go to a neutral position if it experiences a short circuit, overload, ground fault, or arc fault. Some brands trip to a middle position, others trip to the far left or right setting from their original “ON” or closed position. Many manufacturers recommend testing AFCI (arc fault circuit interrupter) and GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) by pushing the test button on the breaker itself. For the models that default to the middle or neutral position you will need to manually push the handle to the opposite side away from the center of your breaker box to reset the overload feature. Then move the breaker handle back to the “ON” position which is the middle of the panel for makes and manufactures. If it trips immediately, then you have a dangerous condition and it's time to call us.
